Substance Abuse Services

Substance abuse assessment services are available to any resident (adults or teens) of Grand County. Substance abuse/dependence treatment is contingent on the outcome of the substance abuse assessment. The goal of substance abuse treatment is to educate the consumer about his/her substance problem/addiction, initiate a plan of treatment that is research-identified as effective, and carry out that plan in a dignified manner to the satisfaction of the consumer.

Who is eligible: Anyone residing in Grand County is eligible for substance abuse services.

Fees: Most insurance is accepted, including Medicaid. A sliding scale fee structure based upon annual household income is available upon request. Some court ordered assessments are funded from fines.

How to access these services: Please call or stop by the Moab office at 1-435-259-6131, 198 E. Center, during business hours, for an appointment.

What to expect: When you call or drop by for an appointment, you will be scheduled to complete some paper and pencil questionnaires and a computer-based questionnaire. These questionnaires will give us demographic and billing information, but, also, information about how you cope with life's stressors and how you use substances as part of that coping. You will, then, be scheduled for an individual consultation with a licensed substance abuse counselor. This counselor will review, with you, your scores on the questionnaires. Your scores and the counselor's professional assessment will give you an idea of the most effective program to meet your goals.

You will be offered a specific recommendation based upon your strengths and needs from these and other alternatives:
