Mental Health Services

Mental health assessment services are available in Grand County to anyone (adults, teens and children) who has personally disturbing or other offending behavioral problems. On going treatment is contingent on the outcome of the mental health assessment. The purpose of mental health treatment is to educate the consumer about his/her mental illness, initiate a plan of treatment and carry out that plan in a professional manner.

Who is eligible: Any resident of Grand County is eligible for mental health services.

Fees: Most insurance is accepted, including Medicaid. An application for a sliding scale fee based upon annual household income is available upon request.

How to access these services: Please call the Moab office at 435-259-6131 during regular business hours for an appointment. Or, stop by the office at 198 E. Center St. in Moab. Regular business hours are 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. If you are having what you feel is a mental health emergency, a licensed mental health therapist is available 24 hours/day via sheriff dispatch at 259-8115 or 911. Appointments are available, weekly, in Green River by calling the Moab office to schedule.

What to expect: When you first come into the office or call, a licensed mental health therapist (most often the supervisor) will talk with you about your needs and decide, with you, if a mental health assessment is the appropriate service. If an assessment is decided upon, you will be scheduled, as soon as possible, with the mental health therapist who is most qualified to deal with the issue that you present. As part of your participation in the assessment, you are asked to complete paperwork that will give us demographic and billing information, but also, some further idea of how you are coping. We use our questionnaire of General Well Being before your first appointment and as a follow-up in a few months to see if your work with us has been helpful. Your assessment information will be staffed with our team of professionals, headed by our psychiatrist. This enables us to offer you the most effective treatment package for the needs that you identified in the assessment interview.

Listed below are some of the services that you may receive as a result of the assessment and team staffing:

• Individual Psychotherapy - Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is an example.
• Group Therapy - Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, for example, uses a group format for skills learning.
• Clubhouse Referral - member services include assistance with entitlement applications and meaningful work opportunities.
• Psychiatric Evaluation - psychiatric services include evaluating if medication may or may not be helpful.
