DUI Services

DUI (Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or other drugs) assessment and education services are available to any Grand County resident who has been cited for a DUI offense. A Utah Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor and a Utah Certified DUI Instructor are the providers of these services.

Who is eligible: Anyone residing in Grand County who has a DUI offense is eligible to participate in substance abuse assessment and education.

Fees: A fee of $250.00 is charged to Grand County residents for assessment and education. This fee is due at the time of assessment. In some cases, this fee is paid by court fines. Insurance is not billable for DUI classes.

How to access these services: Please call 1-435-259-6131 or come by the office at 198 E. Center in Moab to sign up for the DUI assessment and education.

What to expect: When you come to the office or call, you will be scheduled to complete some paper and pencil questionnaires and a computer-based questionnaire. The questionnaires give us billing and demographic information, but, also information about how you cope with life's stressors and how you use substances in that coping. After you complete the questionnaires, you will be scheduled for an individual consultation with a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor. This counselor will review your scores with you and identify whether the DUI Education component, alone, is appropriate or whether other substance abuse services should be added to create a more effective intervention. The Education component of 16 hours of Utah State approved curriculum is offered at regular intervals throughout the year. At the end of the sixteen hours a certificate of completion is awarded.
