Substance Use Prevention Services
Substance use and violence prevention services are offered throughout Carbon County, as well as, in all of the schools in the Carbon School District. The purpose of the substance use/violence prevention program is well stated in its name, substance use and violence prevention. The primary targeted population is those citizens, especially youth, who have not already started to use substances on a regular basis. The strategy is to educate those not using substances regularly, to the harmful effects of the substances as well as giving the youth the skills necessary to be substance use and violence free. Abstinence is also taught to many of the "high, at risk youth", who have written parental permission to receive this information.
Who is eligible: All students in the Carbon School District receive at least some Substance Use/Violence Prevention information throughout the school year. In addition, many adults also access this information through activities.
Fees: There are no fees for the Substance Use/Violence Prevention activities/programs.
How to access these services: All students in the Carbon School District receive at least some of these prevention services at school. Others in the community receive these services/messages via the news paper, by attending parades where there is a Prevention Float, events where there is a prevention booth and by attending the prevention plays.
